Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Haha yeah. I was asking about it and it would be awesome but it might never happen. However if I could not get one there I would get one at guitar center because 1. No one there knows anything about drums and 2. People there tend to not keep there job
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Yeah, I wish there was a Guitar Center or a decent drum shop in the town where I live, but even more so I wish there was an Apple Store in the town I live, I'd get a job there no questions asked!
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
There is one in Louisville, and I'm sure there's probably one in Nashville, but not in Bowling Green where I go to school and live, super lame.
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
nah, and considering I worked at Gap last summer, and they are sibling companies, i expect to go in knowing a lot about what i have to do... i'm looking forward to it, i haven't worked in toooo long.
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Yeah that's good. At least your familiar with the store.
Btw what are your favorite apps for the iPhone?

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
well, i've only downloaded free apps thus far...
I've got:
- Facebook, a total necessity
- Pandora
- Shazam, identifies music by listening to it
- AAA, My dad and I are AAA members, and it's really handy if my car ever broke down PLUS it helps me locate places that offer AAA discounts.
- Barnes & Noble, when i downloaded it, i got a free cup of coffee, so i was pumped.
- Paper Toss, just as it sounds, it's a game where you try to throw paper wads into a garbage can, it's addicting
- Sol Free, free solitaire game, i love solitaire.
That's all I've gotten thus far... I don't want to clutter up my phone too much, I'm kind of a neat freak... but not at all at the same time.

Cancelled the order for my 10" J1 head, it had already been a month. Instead I bought a coated G1. Finally got my clear G1 that had been lazing around for a month now on. It also came with a mini-emad. So I thought, instead of having a small amount of a cotton sheet put up against the fiberskyn to control the boominess, I chucked it on. And it does a perfect job, is very small, and can easily be removed. Chucked the PST5 ride onto a pedal, and it creates a very cool mallet roll sound, if you have nice speed. I think that's all the news I have ... for now

That sounds cool with the ride on a pedal!
How is the ride mounted? Yea the other drummer in my church uses the mini emads they are very cool!
I saw TBS last night, they were incredible!
Twin atlantic and the demise were also paying, both were great aswell!
Mark from TBS had a super classy kit! DW collectors, 4 peice with what im guessing was 24"kick 12" and16" toms, champange sparkle with chrome hardware, his 12" was a power tom, really deep. He changed snare a few times, he had a gold one, a black one and a silver one, i have no idea what they were.
The drummer from twin atlantic had a dw kit aswell, it was blood red with black hardware and an FS reso, although his cymbals where definiately too high, as he looked like he was struggling to play his ride, he even lowered it after their second song haha. He was an awesome player though!

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
man, i used t o be really into TBS, but I don't care for the latest material as much as say, "tell all your friends"
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
I am really really into them, always have been, im so happy that i finally got to see them live! They played a brand new song song last night that has never been played before, it was an epic build up kind of song, i liked it.
I really like all there stuff, my favourite album is probably louder now, i like all the albums but louder now has that edge IMO. Was a great night out.
And twin atlantic were fantastic aswell, they put on a great show, although you guys probably wouldn't understand them as they have a very very harsh glasgow accent hahaha.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Dave, I envy you. I missed TBS when they came here, and they're probably my favorite band of all time. I'm (hopefully) going to see them in Buffalo in a short time with a bunch of other good bands.
Matt, I think New Again is much, much better than Tell All Your Friends. If I had to rank their albums it would go...
1. Where You Want To Be
2. New Again
3. Tell All Your Friends
4. Louder Now

They were really great, everything was just 100x better live than on the albums, when they played cute without the E everyone went mad with excitement haha
They opened with whats it feel like to be a ghost, what an opener!
Marks drumming was awesome, some of the fills he played were crazy, he really spices up his playing live compared to what he plays on the album.
I really liked louder now, for me it would be:
1.Louder now
2.New again and where you want to be
3.Tell all your friends.
I was surprised how cool Eddie was live, you tend to see much of him in videos and stuff but he was super charismatic. And speaking of charisma Matt Fazzi = superman on steroids haha

Yea adam is such a frontman, his big mic spins where unreal last night! Some of the tricks he did were beast.
I have watched some videos of TBS on youtube and they aren't that great live (vocally) but ;last night was perfect, they had 3 and 4 part harmonies going at some points, definitely will go again, well worth the money!

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Maybe I'm really late on something, but I just found these tonight and thoroughly enjoyed watching them. In case some of you guys hadn't seen it I figured I'd post it up here.
Footage of Mayer from the original writing/tracking session of 'In Repair' with Steve Jordan and Charlie Hunter. Pretty awesome stuff, I thought.

"Dude, that groove is just... disgusting, man!"
Hahahaha.
