Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Once the settings get sorted this will be good.
It could be like the PDF but without the trolls and douches haha
If we can't do a "show us your kits" kind of thing, we could use the PDF to post the pics and link them across to the JJ thread.
What was the last thing we were talking about ?? The art of bop drumming ??

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
there should totally be a show us your kits forum here...
i just sold the ddrum a while ago, and i pretty much have all new stuff since i last posted my kit on the PDF! i need to take some pictures soon.
the art of bop drumming is a fantastic book, too. most in depth section on brush work i've ever seen in a book, and i like how the exercises are broken up by interesting text every now and then.

yeah I have his dvd.
It's really good. more of a philosophical approah to durmming than technical. I always play so much better after watching it.

i bought mine at guitar center...its everywhere. i only bought it cause my private lesson teacher in college told me to. i never really worked out of it until after i left school to tour in my band. i wish i would have.
in lessons we mostly worked out of the jim chapin book, advanced techniques for the modern drummer. another great book, if you know how to use it.

man your lucky, i rarely touched a set in college, all i did was straight keyboard work.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
man, i was playing drums TOO much in school! of course, i was playing piano a ton too, but i was in way over my head as far as drumming is concerned. too much demand, not enough drummers.
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
no no i know what you mean.
my percussion studio had only 20 percussionist
and three of them were grad kids
there was so much work to be done and i just did my focus on mallet percussion so i was always constantly working and most of the time playing solos, and duets and entire concerts where i was so over my head.
