Woah, man. That's huge, looks like a really fun setup. I think I counted 26 cymbals.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
yea, I think I might lose the second bell and chime, and a few splashes. I'll have to to see as I go. I'd be starting that set from scratch and I've got $0 saved for it.
Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
I'm not going to bother with a kitbuilder photo, but here are my dream specs.
-20"x16" Kick. 8-ply.
-18"x14" Kick. 6-ply.
-10"x8" Rack Tom. 6-ply.
-14"x14" Floor tom. 6-ply.
Birch Shells. Natural Satin finish, with Chrome hardware. I'd choose Yamaha-Style teardrop lugs for the kit, with claw-style wood hoops.
Cymbals:
-15" HHX Groove Hats.
-21" HHX Legacy Ride.
-21" HHX Groove Ride.
-24" K Light Ride.
-20" HHX Chinese.
I'm not going to bother listing all of the snares I want, or all of the little effect cymbals I want. Hah.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
you have to have a lot of 13" snares with that setup. Just sayin'.
Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
Well ideally i'd have two kits, one in bigger sizes (24" kick, 13, 16, 18 toms, or something like that), and a smaller one (18 kick, 10, 14 toms.)
If I could only have one..
20x16 kick
10x8 rack tom
14x14 floor tom
16x14 floor tom (maybe)
Not sure of the shell materials, maybe i'll mix it up (birch kick, maple toms), but who knows. As for the finish, probably a dark stain, with natural maple yamaha style wood hoops.
For cymbals -
16" K Light Hats
13.25" K Custom Hybrid Hats (Aux)
21" HHX Groove Ride
24" K Light Ride
22" HHX Manhattan Ride
20" HHX China
14" HHX Evo Mini China
Maybe the occasionally splash/cup chime.
As Sam said, a whole slew of snares that I haven't decided on yet.

Yeah, I dig 13" snares. I'd love to get my hands on another one soon, as well as the other 67 snares I want, but I've got other priorities at the moment. I'm still really digging my 14"x8" to the fullest extent, though.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
My snare arsenal would definitely include a 14x8 maple snare, along with the Steve Jordan sig snare. Probably a reference, and a black panther of some sort. Also a pearl piccolo for sure. Yummy.

Some snares I would want in my arsenal would be:
-14"x8" DHP, of course.
-14"x5" Acrolite.
-14"x6.5" Black Beauty.
-14"x5" Reference Steel Snare.
-14"x5.5" DW Cast Bronze.
-13"x6" Oak Stave. (1/4")
-12"x7" Keller Maple of some sort.
-10"x5.5" Black Panther Pure Cherry Shell w/ Gold Hardware.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
I need to get my hands on an acrolite. And a superphonic.
That leaves me with:
6x10 popcorn stave (I'm working on it now)
7x13 keller
7x14 copper/bronze snare. Hell, one of each. Bronze would need those tama rims.
Some soil shell, maybe 14x6. one piece, steam bent, reinforcement rings
Some staves, varying woods and sizes.
6.5x14 reference snare
and other stuff like that.
P.S. Some mod should split this and make another thread out of this for the snare section....

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
I'd love a 14"x5" Supra. I just didn't bother putting one down because I already had some similar snares up there, and didn't want too many similar ones on my list.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
hmm... how similar is the supra and an acrolite? what about the supersensitive?
I should know more about these ludwig snares. What other ones did I not mention that should be mentioned?

this actually sounds like it would be really nice, but add a 20" K custom dark ride and it would pretty much be my dream set up

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
I think mine will change sometime, but at the moment, it'd probably be:
Drums.
22x15
16x14
12x8(maybe)
Probably Jarrah ply, made by Metro Drums, natural satin finish.
I have enough money to buy the drums now, but I don't think I need a new kit right at the moment. I'd probably get the bass and the floor tom and just run a three piece, then add on the rack tom later if needed.
Cymbals.
15" Hats
20" Crash/Ride (left side)
22" Ride
24" Ride
22" Ride (with rivets)
All custom made by Roberto Spizzichino. I would go to Italy and hand pick the cymbals. I would use either the 22 or the 24 as the main ride most of the time, and use the riveted 22 on the far right side.
Snares.
14x6.5 Zebrawood Stave
14x5 Acrolite
14x6.5 Black Beauty
14x6.5 Tama Bell Brass (with Brass hoops)
14x8 Maple
13x6.5 Steve Jordan Sig
14x4 Birch
13x6 Steel
12x5 Maple
10x6 Maple
14x5 Brady*
14x7 Brady*
12x7 Brady*
*Undecided material or shell construction.
All of the snares would have triple-flanged, die cast and wood hoops, changed depending on my mood. I think all of the snares are different enough to warrant them being there. It would be amazing to have just a few snares off that list (I have 2 at the moment), let alone all of them.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
My drums are fairly similar to that of Sam's. Specs being
Custom shells (Metro drums)
Maple:
20x16" 8ply
18x16" (or 14) 6 ply
10x8" 6 ply
14x14" 6 ply
Wood hoops, J1/G1 on toms, G1/Hazy 300 snare, EMAD/Fiberskyn Ambassador Bass drum (so pretty much what I'm using now.)
14" Hats
20" K Constantinople Flat Ride
22" K Custom High Definition Ride
22" Paiste New Traditional Light Ride
20" Istanbul Agop Special Edition Jazz Ride
18" Sabian Artisan Crash
But the hardest part, snares. I'll come back to that one.
edit: Levi's post reminded me of Spizzichino. I would join him on his voyage and return with a full set of Spizz's. Sharing hotel rooms may become a bitch, he's a loud snorer.

Re: Dream Setups! (Not cymbals, Jeffrey)
Hi-hats are 16" a custom projection crash over 16" z custom medium/rock crash. (or somethiong to that effect)
Added a 16" floor tom for that extra boom just incase, i think i would also have a shallower snare 14 or 13 by 5 that i could swap on if i needed.
The idea is to have two kits in one! main kit it 16" hats 14x8 snare and 22x18 kick, the 22 bass will have no muffling and will sound huge, the 18" kick (on the slave of a twin pedal) will be muffled (slightly) and be tuned higher for that punchy sound, 14x8 snare tuned medium/low and phat and the 10 tuned fairly high and poppy (the 14x5 on the "bench" will be tuned high and ringy and have like a wet jazzy smack). A bright 20" ride and a 22" darker ride. One versatile 18"crash! That way i can switch between a big open boomy sound and a controlled tight sound very easily.
I currently need:
The darker ride, the 16" hats (next purchase ), the auxiliary kick, side snare and the 16" floor tom.
I Think i will build the kick and floor tom myself and get the finished to match my kit. Its gonna be a fun project

Maple
Chrome hw
Ayotte-style woodhoops
Natural satin finish, with a darker satin on hoops.
Probably from a custom company.
And a bunch of different snares.
Cymbals:
15" K light hats
20" Vault artisan light ride
24" Custom-made spizz ride
22" K con med-thin ride low
*I would be switching between floortoms. Not use both at the same time.
I love the cymbal choices! Great dream kit! I hope it comes true!
