Links to my videos and recordings.
I made a recording today, the quality was surprisingly well, considering i just used my macbook's built in mic, i mean, it's not great quality, but better than i expected.
also, be sure to check out my videos from prior jam sessions as well.
VII on the purevolume is from today.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
yeah, it's nice to hear what the kit sounds like from out front. Man, those dreams sound sick from out front.
Re: Links to my videos and recordings.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
yeah, i'm really happy with my kick drum sound right now, especially when i play off the head instead of into the head.
Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
like burying the beater?
yeah it's always good not to do that imo.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
Nice recordings matt, that guitar riff is quite hypnotic !
I usually bury the beater, but sometimes i don't! I really don't have a kick technique, i don;t slide, bounce, heel toe or pump. I also switch betweeb heel up and heel down randomly, as long i can play the right rhythm i don't care gow i get it haha.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
on my kick drum i plat heel up 99.9999% of the time.
i don't want to say i'm totally burying the beater, but more like just keeping the beater resting on the head, but not pushing it into the head after a note is struck.
J -- i was kind of thinking you had maybe heard the terminology before from marching. i remember at parts being told to really play through the head when we were at the peak of our closer and things like that. or playing off the head when we are marching our ballad. also like when playing marimba and vibes, i was always taught to pull the sound out of the bars kind of...
nice rant, eh?

I agree, the guitar riff is quit hypnotic! I like it, except I hate the Macbook mics, as I stated earlier, I far prefer mine on my headphones.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
well, next time you are with me, and i'm jamming with my friend at the same time, i'll use your headphone mic! haha
i wish i had have recorded the bit we played right before this recorded one, it was like some sick r&b/jazz/blues it was really enjoyable.

UPDATE
Three new clips are on my purevolume.
VII is the old clip.
Groove is just a simple groove, it uses both of my snares, the order of the snare playing in that is as follows:
- 12" Snare + Hi Hats
- 13" Snare + Ride
- 13" Snare + Hi Hats
- 12" Snare + Ride
CheckCheckCheck is just a few hits on each item of my kit. The order is as follows:
1. 12" Snare
- hits
- rimshots
- cross sticking with groove wedge
2. 13" Snare
- hits
- cross sticking with wood hoops
3. Floor Tom
4. Kick Drum
5. 15" Dream Hats
6. 19" Dream Crash/Ride
7. 22" Dream Ride
Organ-ic is a jam I recorded with my friend who is a pianist/keyboard/drummer. Just kind of recording a simple beat on the first take, and went with it.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
thanks man.
The 14" really opened up and started roaring for me more once i put a coated G1 on it instead of the coated g2 or coated ec2 i had had on there.

Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
Man, I love the way mine resonates, i'd just like the fundamental pitch to be a bit lower.
Re: Links to my videos and recordings.
My toms are too open they resonant really really well hence why i put o rings on them to kill it i little bit, they still resonant well but its a nicer sound.
If you want so resonating toms, clear ambs over diplomats/clear ambs.
