Thanks. No, the show(carnival) is in town, so this weekend was a long weekend, lucky me.

Oh, if anyone cares, I got a Sennheiser e602 bass drum mic, a crappy mic(for me to do vocals at practice), and lots of car cleaning stuff. I guess that's my mum's way of telling to wash my car.

The two mics are still in the mail, but I should have them soon.

Do you already own other recording gear, if not, then why a BD mic?

With the new practice room, we're also setting up our own recording studio. This last week we've bought heaps of gear for the studio.

We got:
-Motu 8 input Firewire Audio Interface.
-Bass Drum mic
-Pop Filter
-4 mic stands
-Lots of leads
-New computer, with recording software
-5" Studio Monitors
-2 Sennheiser headphones
-And there's lots of other things that I've forgot.

We've already got most of the mics, the BD mic was the last one we needed before we could start recording. We'll probably finish the room next weekend, then we'll get in there and start playing. Then we'll do the acoustic treatment, then we can start recording.

I will be taking a trip up to Townsville (actually my friend went there this week, I believe. He's also a drummer)
Anyway, a big congratulations to you!
I'm not jealous or anything
I would like to pick up a bunch of decent recording gear one day, I really want to start learning. Since as a musician, understanding the whole process a whole lot more definitely helps you on the way. And there's only so much you can understand from reading etc.

When are you coming to Townsville?

And yeah, I've done a bit of recording in the past, and I found that reading is good, but once you get out and do it you learn so much more than you ever could by reading a book.

It was supposed to sound more sarcastic. I'm coming any time soon, I'd like to, however.

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. It's always far easier to learns hands on as you can understand it as a whole far more, and not need to assume 'oh, how does this work', whereas you could try how that works, and what happens.
It's like reading a lot about drums, you ain't gonna learn much until you try 'em.

Yeah, except this time, I think my brother's gonna be the one doing most of the recording, and I'll just take a back seat and just do the playing, which will be fun. I'll probably help out when we're doing the mixing though.

It would definitely be a nice experience.

Does your brother play an instrument also?

Yeah, he's the guitarist/vocalist in my band.

Some brotherly love in the band. I've heard that siblings go far better in bands as they tend to agree upon more things. I for one can't believe that in the slightest, I doubt I could ever join a band with my siblings.

Oh, no brotherly love. We get into fights all the time. I guess it's pretty weird for our bassist(my brother's friend) who just stands there while we're having these fights.

Ha-ha, I can actually imagine it. My guitarists in my current band are brothers, there's been no fights as of yet. Then again, we're fairly new. Then again, I'm most likely going to break up.

I don't think it would be too bad, if my brother wasn't a dick. I suppose he's not all the time, but quite a bit of the time he is.
