also, the comment about Jay dickson, dead on.

thanks. I think so too!

yeah I need a ride with a little sparkle to it! I took my drumset to a friend's house yesterday, and I couldn't get enough of my riveted bliss. I love taking my kit places.

ha yeah it is.

now if only my floor tom could resonate, we'd be in business. it's purely punch. no resonance. I'm thinking about sharpening up the bearing edges.. like maybe with a file or sand paper or taking them to drummaker. what do you think?

From epiarch's webiste
"The result is no annoying overtones but rather a slappy warm round focused punch out of your floors. "

that is too accurate. these drums were meant for micing and recording though. but a little resonance will make me much happier.

you just wait and see friend, when the hi energy hits the bearing edge and the hoop is placed atop the drum, a grand amount of cranking will occur.... shoooo, if you only knew.

So my snare strainer broke today but Gibraltar saved the day and i have a new one coming soon. Phew.

http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/index.cfm?fa=partsmain&curcat=2&bnd=11&cid=102&sid=452&pid=1522

Ill have to play with my snares off for a few days.
It sucks i wasted like the whole day trying to fix it and it was hopless, i barely got any practice done today Sad The pratcice i did get done was great made some creative tom melodies in my fills but it was a sad day for Dave Sad

Nah its completely seized up at the strainer mechanism so i can't change the tension of my snares haha i cant even take it apart, the threads on the actually screw-bit that turns have meshed onto their plate somehow and they can't be unscrewed.

Hopefully the new one gets here soon. Also im think im gettin some new heads for my kit for my birthday, i think ill sticks with remo, as much as i love the sound of my FS snare batter the bubbling thing is annoying, its only on the top ply but it looks bad so i think im going for Control Sound Or Emperor X on the snare and coated ambs or suede emps on the toms (for something different than my usual clear ambs). I think im gonna stick with clear amb reso's all round.

that sucks about our throw-off. when mine broke, the connecter between the switch, and the part that actually dropped the wires down broke, so i just glued the dropping mechanism in the up position, and basically just adjusted the tension to get my snares on and off.... ghetto, i know.

yea thats not to bad at least you adjust it. Well at least i have no gigs coming up! It sucks though cause i was doin some crazy thomas lang shizzle and was working on BG's one man samba. Sad times, ill get my snare retuned tomorrow and just play with snares off, ill probably play some latin and tribal stuff then, maybe continue with the one man samba.

yeah, don't rush, save up and get one that you will really enjoy.

I have a friend who has like 3 of those cheapo steel snares.... why???? no reason at all.

heck, i think i played my export snare for like 5 or 6 years before i got my black panther.

Im definately thinking of a black panther! You never know maybe Shawn will make me a snare, or maybe ill win his haha, That would be handy.
The Tribal BP's look great IMO and sound great too i wouldn't mind scoring one of them off ebay.
