Ahhh, so this is what you were keeping from us. haha.

Anyway, very nice bro. That probably looks awesome with your kit.
How much did it set you back ? Did the groove wedge come with it or did you pick that up separately ?

i got a pretty decent deal, at least i think so.

150 bucks for the snare including shipping, and then i ordered the groove wedge and got it for like 39 bucks including shipping.

Sweet deal. Those artwood snares are fantastic, I've always been a big fan of them. Congrats man.

How are you liking the groove wedge so far ?
I've played one a couple of times but it's been quite awhile ago. How does it compare to the wood hoops on your Panther ?

I really like it. as far as comparing to the wood hoops, i mean the only field i could really compare them on is cross sticking..... on a scale from 1-100 where 1 is a normal 2.3 hoop and 100 is a wood hoop, the groove wedge hits at probably about 77 with cross sticking. i really like it, i'm really glad i got it for this 12" snare.

If i ever get a metal snare, i'd probably like having a groove wedge on that but not full on wood hoops.

Nice new snare matt, the finish is growing on me! My local store had a black one before, it was nice.

Gongrats, and the groove wedge is cool!.

thanks Dave, the finish is beautiful, it's got a pleasant amount of gloss and a pretty nice grain under it too.

Do you get any extra snare buzz having 2 similar sized snares set up? Maybe you don't cause you only have one tom, just curious?

i didn't really notice a lot of snare buzz when i was playing the past couple of days.

while the snares are almost the same size, i have them tuned waaay differently. the 12" is just totally cranked, while the 13" is a lot more open and big sounding.

I might encounter a bit more snare buzz if i had some rack toms right by my snares, but yeah, with just the one floor, i don't recall much if any buzzing.

I swear it's so funny, i've dropped little subtle hints at this snare for the past couple weeks and no one picked up on them....
