Oooo Mike is back to his DW kit! He had a shine kit in his last video.

the DW kit looks WAY better. the shine kit looked nice, but i mean.... c'mon

are we really trying to compare Shine and DW?

in one of his videos he's playing on just a snare.
i believe it was the one where hes playing paradiddles as well as saying the alphabet.
and the snare threw me in a loop because it definetly was a shine badge but he played on a dw kit.

yeah last week he got that kit from dw right before he did a clinic. it sounded like it was all mic'd up and eq'd when he was playing. but it wasn't. The only thing i don't like is the finish. It kind of looks tacky up close, and the satin hardware doesn't really work on it. but it sounds great.

Yea he kept his shine signature snare but he must like his dw kick and toms more!

yeah, Satin hardware looks cheap to me, i used to like it but it's just kind of tacky imo.

i think chrome hardware will always be the best option for drum sets

Chrome always looks best, gold can look decent SOMETIMES, but it's hard to pull off. and Black looks well, a little too metal for me. Black Nickel (like J's kit) can be really sick sometimes. and I will go ahead and say, I like white powder coated hardware but only on white drums.... something about the white on white look, i love it.

mmm... the black nickel on the tama superstar hyperdrive kits is so tight. I guess it just looks like it almost became black chrome but stayed in the middle to look like chrome

I've never been fond of the angled wood grain. But that's just me.

It's really starting to grow on me, especially some of those DW twisted finishes... they are pretty amazing, like the twisted rainbow tree kit on DW's site...

yeah when I walked in the room, i was like "hey cool finish" then i walked up and looked at it and was like "are you kidding me this looks like a wrap" but the way he plays it, it really doesn't matter. HE'S AMAZING!

so wait, have you seen Mike's actual kit? or are you just referring to other kits with crazy exotic woods?

i went to a clinic of his last week in north hollywood.

cool, was he playing this same DW kit? i know he's had a few plus the shine kit.

he got DW kit that very day. he said he stopped by DW Paiste and Aquarian before coming to do the clinic.

at first i didn't care for him, but the more of his videos i watch, the more i like him.
