Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
It's called stupidity, or a lapse in thinking at all.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
I'm glad to hear you say that as after reading previous responses from you you seemed like you were going to do something extremely immature, and something that would put a bad name on the whole JJ clan. Personally I think we should let this whole happenings go, we're only digging ourselves a deeper hole. I know I'm over it, whatever, **** happens.Matt wrote:I'm not letting him off the hook, i'm not backing down either, but i am going to discuss the issues in a mature fashion, without stooping to the douche bag level that i did the past couple days.
I told you all that seeing the new transformers would put me in a good mood.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
I dunno, Matt. You have my full support if you want to do something crazy.
In other news...
I went to my local store yesterday. My stick are still on backorder . But I did see two new Saturn kits that they got in. They don't get new kits in there very often, so I was pretty excited. They were both the same configuration, which I thought was a bit weird. The specs were 22x16,12x9,14x14,16x16 and 14x5. Not my ideal sizes, but I'd be happy with it. One kit was Sienna Burst and the other was Root Beer Burst. The Root Beer kit was probably the most beautiful kit I've ever seen in real life, no joke. He was asking $3300, but that was without the snare, and with a trade-in of my Gretsch kit. I've seriously been thinking about it, but it would probably be pretty stupid of me, I could get a Metro, in my exact specs, for less money.
Also, the new practice room/studio is coming along nicely. We've got most of the paint on, and the carpet is being laid tomorrow morning. We've had a bit of trouble with the paint. Dad had an idea to use Suede paint as our topcoat. If anyone doesn't know what suede paint is, it's the paint you use to get a finish like this:
What you normally do with suede paint is you put down the first coat normally, then when you do the second coat, you do the fancy brush strokes, which gives you ^that look. So, we didn't want that type of finsh, so dad had the idea to do the first coat, then when we do the second coat, don't do the fancy brush thing. So, when we went to put the idea in practice, the paint turns out to be extremely patchy, which is what it's designed to be (duh). So we thought, "OK, it might look better after the second coat". Wrong! We've now ended up putting three coats on, and it's looking better, but it's still a little patchy. Note: we've only ended up using the suede paint on the top half of the two long walls, and the ceiling. After seeing how much hassle the suede was, dad went out and bought new regular paint for the bottom of the long walls, and the end walls. So, hopefully, in the end it will all turn out all right. We should be playing in there this weekend, with only a few little things to finish off, A/C, power, lighting, fresh air intake, finishing off the door, and the door seals.
Wow, that seemed like a really long post.

the toms had nasty pintripes with muffling on top and bottom heads. and the bass durm has a pinstripe. pretty terrible.
haha the powerball actually opened up pretty easily. didn't sound that bad, except it was loud as a bomb.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
hm. Sounds pretty nasty.
I'd love to see pics of the Tama Superstar EFX kit in Vintage Nickel Sparkle, but I did a search and couldn't find any pics. I'm lazy to make a thread. So nevermind.
If I were to get a tama kit, I'd probably get a hyperdrive in Mitch Mitchell sizes.
24x18 (not his size, but closest), 14x8 rack tom, 16x14 bass drum, and either a 18x16" floor, or just leave it as a 4-piece.
Mleh, I just want a new kit.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
me and you both ali.
and guys, don't worry about me doing something crazy and outlandish... as i've said, i've calmed down considerably, and I'm more than aware that I am in a way representing all of us, I'm not going to back down, and I'm not going to let him off the hook, but I'm going to be polite, mature and cordial in the process.

haha...
There's a fine line where being polite, mature and cordial intersect with being a dick... that's where I am, my friend.
not really.
