You could have just screwed the spurs up to where the spikes aren't coming out and just the rubber is making contact....

Have any of you listened to some sound clips on Dream chinas? They weren't very good, IMO. You guys should check out some of the Paiste Traditional swishes on cymbaylsonly.com, they are amazing.
