Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
The 22x18 kick just went for $157.50 + Shipping.
The thing that frustrates me the most, is that there is no way i can leave negative feedback for him, I hate for someone to fall into the same situation i'm in with this guy.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Can you report him? Or can't they do that as you worked it all out privately.

No, I can't report him or anything since it was all just through emails/messages.....

And the floor tom just went for $139 + Shipping.
I wonder what the margin between what the drums went for and what the person's high bid was.... i don't know if it was the same person that got them or not... but both piece just went for like 300 bucks basically.... damn.

honestly, i wasn't that crazy about the finish anyway, but the price was right at 225... maybe i can find a sick deal on some yammy drums.....

I'm really not a fan of buying anything second-hand. As you may have noticed, everything I've ever bought came new. Except one boom arm.

I just like the idea of this coming brand new from the factory. I can't stand owning second-hand gear, unless there is no evidence of it really being second-hand. Which is pretty rare.

Well yeah, obviously then I will look second hand. But that hasn't as of yet occurred.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
So FINALLY I've been able to get my perfect kick sound! For those who don't know, I've had a lot of trouble tuning my kick. I've never really been able to do it, without using internal muffling, which just ruin's the whole tone anyway. So I've been trying a lot over the past few days, tuning the entire kick about 3 times a day And at last found it! They continuously turned out far too open and bouncy, and were just too ringy. Sounded really shocking, especially if you lay into it. But now! now! Though I wouldn't mind a felt on the Fiberskyn.

Were you tuning too high? Sure sounds like it.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Well sometimes, yes. but even tuned low I couldn't get the right tone. I think I was having them too far apart, one high, and one far too low. I did all sorts of things. But now I'm scared I won't be able to get this sound again

I can't remember
No, wait... Up to washer tight, down 1/4, up 2 full turns, down like 1? Then fine-tuned. I was trying to follow the Tuning Bible.
The batter was pretty much the same as well, a bit higher, obviously.

Ha-ha. Nah, I reckon I could get back to it. Don't hold me on that though. I could always see what it is with my old tension watch, to help me return back to it a bit quicker next time.

Matt wrote:yeah, and if Ford and GM are the only options, no thanks.
I dunno what you are talking about, Ford makes some damn good trucks (they are after all, a truck company, and that is what they will always be) and out of the big 3 American companies, they actually REFUSED bail out money. Which means they know what they are doing.
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Ford aren't much of a truck company here.Rubber314chicken wrote:Matt wrote:yeah, and if Ford and GM are the only options, no thanks.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
J -- why not, you have the two c1000s and that will put you closer to flatbases.
RC-- I will say that if i had to choose an "american" car company, ford would be my choice... but of all the automobile manufacturers, i'd much prefer a toyota or a honda.
