Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Have any of you tried the 18" K Constantinople crash?
I'm looking for opinions.

Not the crashes, but soon when I take my ultimate cymbal trip (and hopefully return with cymbal goodies) I will have a vast library of sounds and opinions in my head. Oh it will be a grand day.

If you can afford it, the 4x4 4 door is a great truck, and it'll easily last you 300K miles. Don't bother with the half doors behind the first that open backwards unless you are transporting small cargo or you buy a full sized truck. And don't buy a Tundra. Those suck.Matt wrote:that's one of my possible future vehicles once i graduate, a Tacoma, or a Corolla, Camry, maybe a Civic or an Accord...
I think if i'd get a v6 though if i got a little truck
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
I think the latest Tundras are just too damn big.
ali -- sucks about the ride, i'm sure another deal will come along.

And the frames were bent on the car loader trucks tying them down. If you are gonna buy a full size pickup, your choices are Ford or GM.

Aw bummer about the 21" legacy ride! I would kill a bunny for one of those!
The K constantiople crashes are all pretty much amazing, the 18" one sounds particualrily good as hi hats top when combined with an A rock crash
Anything K constantinople is pretty much beast, they have a real vintage essence to them! And they look great!

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
So I was going to hold out on you guys, but I can't.
I have been talking to a guy who had some drums on eBay. He had 22x18 and 16x16 Mapex Saturn drums in mint condition, and we had emailed back and forth and agreed on a price and I had agreed to meet him somewhere near his home (he lives within driving distance) to pick them up and give him cash, the only thing that hadn't been confirmed is when i was to meet him to make the exchange.
Well, he never took the drums off of eBay, and now people have bid on them, and the bids have exceeded the price we agreed to, so basically, i just got screwed out of a new kit.
I'm really bummed now...

I'm sorry, Matt, it wasn't meant to be... You'll get the drums you really want soon enough.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
yeah, i mean, it was a ridiculous deal i was going to get.
i was going to get both the 22x18 and 16x16 in Emerald Stardust, current saturn badges...... $225
yeah, the deal was insane.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
That sucks matt. Really unfair, the guy should have taken them off ebay when he agreed to meet you!
Keep a look out, im sure something better will come your way.

Wait, did you speak to him yet about the ebay problem? I wouldn't give up hope just yet, Matt, because that is an amazing deal!

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
I sent him a message within 15 minutes of someone bidding on the floor tom.
the two drums have their own auctions.
I haven't heard from him since saturday evening, which is when we discussed if it was cool to meet him somewhere....
but honestly, the bids that have been made on the two drums already exceed what i was going to pay him for the two drums, so i really doubt that he is going to sell them to me.
not to mention the fact that the people who are the high bidders could file complaints with eBay if he didn't sell them the drums...
I'd say the chance of me ending up with these drums is less that 10%...

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
the only hope is if he contacts me in the next couple of hours and tells me to bid some crazy high number, and that he will still sell me the drums for the price we agreed on....
Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Some people are so selfish, seriously. Just hassle him man, it was a stupid thing for him to do, probably so be could score an extra $30.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
the dude still hasn't emailed me back, and auction ends within ten minutes.
I'm tempted to bid like 10,000 bucks, and then just give him the $225 we agreed to.

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
Ha-ha, as funny as that would be, can eBay do anything about that? You don't want to be trying to find $10,000

Re: The Official JJ Johnson Thread
If I wouldn't have to deal with the repercussions from eBay/PayPal, I'd totally bid some crazy amount.... but i fear that I'd have to pay more than the $225 he agreed to.
