I don't mind it, a bit 'in-your-face' however. There's a few things I don't like about Craviotto, such as their chequered/spotted lines that line the drums, and BD hoops. I especially dislike it on their BD hoops, sometimes I wish they would do a very simple kit, without all these little add-ins.Matt wrote:As much as I love Craviotto, I don't really care for the visual appearance of the two tone drums like that, if it were a stripe, visually, i'd like it better...

You know, I'm starting to think that it may be impossible to keep this thread on topic.
One way to keep it on topic would be to get JJ Johnson as a member on here. Seriously, someone should get his email address and get him to register.

Yeah. But I'd just feel awkward.
Though it would be a fantastic experience, somehow.

25 members, and I'm pretty sure 95% are from PDF, and 75% were regulars in the JJ Johnson thread, I'm sure they know.

I sure do hope so.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, anyone who really doesn't know about JJ and Steve is missing out on some awesome stuff. These cats are fantastic. I'm so glad they're finally getting more attention.
And I've also said this before, but I just like rubbing it in...
Matt and I were first.
haha

J, just to put this in perspective for you, we were jamming with Steve and JJ, while you were still going to underOath concerts.
Re: Official JJ JOHNSON thread (on JJ Johnson himself).
I searched for him on Google and found this: http://jjjohnson.net/ I don't think finding him will be easy. How do these musicians NOT have a website? Like Myung doesn't have a website.
Re: Official JJ JOHNSON thread (on JJ Johnson himself).
i think those who truly need to contact him, have the proper resources to obtain contact information and those who don't need to (like us) can't access said resources.

It's extremely hard to find any information on JJ Johnson the drummer. Google etc pop up with the other JJ Johnson.Rubber314chicken wrote:I can't even find him on youtube...

Yeah, it's been about that long for me too.
A buddy of mine who plays guitar bought the Trio album when it first came out and wanted me to listen to it. I was kinda hesitant at first, because I just remembered songs like 'Your Body is a Wonderland' when I thought of John Mayer. He finally convinced me to listen to it though, and man was I glad I did. I was amazed at what I heard. I've been a huge JM fan ever since.
Re: Official JJ JOHNSON thread (on JJ Johnson himself).
ha, i liked JM even back when No Such Thing and YBIAW just hit the radio.
I openly admit that I enjoy a good Pop song from time to time.

Yeah, I really dig a lot of his earlier tunes now, but at the time I just couldn't get into it. Let's keep in mind though, I also listened to some pretty terrible music at the time. haha. I remember watching his 'Any Given Thursday' DVD and thinking, 'Yeah, he's good for sure, but just a little too poppy for me.' Heavier Things was definitely an improvement, but I still had hard time really digging it. But the thing that caught my attention the most was the fact that John was playing electric guitar almost all the time by that point, as opposed to primarily acoustic. And I could tell from listening to Heavier Things that he definitely had some skills, so I was just waiting for him to release something that would take advantage of that.
And that's when I heard 'Try!' and it delivered.
It's actually really funny to me, because now Heavier Things is one of my favorite albums. I love how our tastes in music seem to naturally change over the years, and I'm so glad I don't listen to a lot of the crap that I used to anymore. haha.

I don't mind it assuming AutoTune wasn't used to death in it.
Re: Official JJ JOHNSON thread (on JJ Johnson himself).
Matt, you and Tay can't take all the credit, i remember telling J about JJ and his 18" hats on a thread made by Charles. Think about it, without that one PDF comment:
- JJ thread, never would have existed
- We wouldn't have this forum
- J wouldn't have 18" hats
Its all my doing hahahaha
Joke, but i have like JJ for 2-3 years now, about a year before the JJ thread was made i was into him. I remember when i first saw him on youtube, i was like "what the hell! that guy has HUGE hats, he must be pairing up crashes, what an idiot........." but i loved watchin him play and a day later BOOM.
